The camera I was using on saturday and I still am until tomorrow when the staff photog goes on holidays and gives me his D3 is a 5-year-old D2H from Nikon. Its a typical Nikon product: the manouverability is amazing, all the switches and scrolls are exactly in the right place and the ergonomics are great. The problem is... I am a canon man. At least have been. Even though, im starting to get a hold on the Nikon controls and everything being "wrong", as in upside-down and inside-out: the way you mount a lens, the way zoom works etc. you get the idea.
Anyway, someone told me the sensor in the D2H was supposed to be better than those in EOS bodies at that time. Its hard to believe Nikon actually thinking that would be a good strategy, cause the sensor in the D2H is anal rape to expose on, so to speak. See, the ISO setting can _never_ be set to higher than 400 if you wish to use the images either in print or on web. ISO800 looks horrible. HORRIBLE.
Alright.
Back to the president.

I wonder what its like to live surrounded by media like that, even if its a small event... Also I thought how small our circles actually are, compared to other nations. Could you imagine GW Bush talking to random people like this and not be surrounded by dozens of secret service dudes?

| President having a chat with an older woman who wanted to say, pretty much |
Ive heard people say theyve seen her on the street, casually, just like that, before and after being elected for presidency. Shes a few years into her second time being the president, and shes the first female president we ever had, and one of the first globally. Each term of presidency is 6 years so shes been there for quite some time now.

| Some important people. At least very important looking. |
That was it.
The first _actual_ day at the office, monday, was one of the busiest days Id had for ages as I had three different gigs in total and had to learn all the things at the paper as well... first thing in the morning after the daily meeting within the staff me and a reporter went to have breakfast with a MP and other journalists in a fancy restaurant only to listen to them speak political jargon about social welfare... i didnt really pay much attention to it, the croissants, scrambled eggs and coffee were way too pleasant. I took a couple of portraits after the breakfast though. I forgot them at the office :( Second thing was to go find a couple of truckers and ask them about the protest against fuel prices going up and shoot a frame or two.

Theres been text messages going around from trucker to trucker advicing them to slow down to 20KMH on speedways to in fear of transportation businesses bankrupting.
Last thing was to take a 20-minute bus ride to shoot some chairman of some random associasion who got kicked out by the CEO for trying to replace all the other dudes in leading positions with his own folks. It was crap and useless to go there. :(
Today I had breakfast at the parliament building and took photos of some random smart-looking guys who were on about changing the college education system and forcing everyone under 18 to take up a kind of education program of their choice.
It would suck be finish school and face getting forced to go to college against your will if you just wanna chill out...
The guy I shot before the parliament house was some sort of a musician.
My attempts to use a reflector to bounce some of the sun light back on his face...I quite like em. with more time, experience and practice im sure i would be able to pull them off even better, but they should do.
